7. Wyedale > Chelmorton
A mix of picturesque riverside paths and open White Peak countryside on this 8.2-mile circular walk from Wyedale car park through Chee Dale – with two sets of stepping stones – and on to Chelmorton.
8. Wyedale > Buxton
The Trail stops about three miles short of Buxton, but this 9-mile walk from Wyedale car park takes you through two attractive dales – Woo Dale and Cunning Dale – to reach the famous Georgian spa town.
27. Topley > Tunstead Quarry
An 8.1-mile walk from Topley Pike layby beside the River Wye and over two sets of stepping stones, passing Wormhill to reach Tunstead, the UK’s largest limestone quarry, and returning through Woo Dale.
Deep Dale rewilding
Topley Pike Quarry lies close to the Buxton end of the Monsal Trail. Plans to return it to a nature reserve have been put on hold because of planning problems. Which is a great shame.
